It seems like today’s center console buyers have to choose between fishability or accommodations for their next boat. No longer is it a zero-sum proposition thanks to Contender’s new 44FA, built using the same hull from the 44ST.
With a beam of 12 feet, the boat is built to handle the rough stuff in the quest for billfish. Contender stocked the boat with a 300-gallon forward fish box, two 100-gallon aft fish boxes and a pair of 55-gallon livewells that can be used for dividing bait. Thanks to the triple helm seating and second-row seating under the hardtop, there is room to bring plenty of friends.
When a fishing trip requires overnighting, the 44ST is ready with a berth that includes a queen-size bed, enclosed head with a shower and a galley with a sink. The cabin also includes a refrigerator/freezer and stovetop that adds to the overall comfort to the high-end model.
