Camira… such a lovely name for wind…
UMPTEEN … that’s the word that comes to mind when describing the number of seating configurations you can offer your guests aboard Windy’s 40 Camira RS. The Windy Design Team partnered with world-renowned Design Unlimited to come up with cockpit and interior options that break the boundaries of what boaters are used to, a true step above anything else found on a 40-foot yacht.
EXTERIOR
The first thing you notice when approaching the yacht is how fast she looks. Fast, yes, if you consider that the Camira RS can skim across the water at speeds in excess of 46 knots. But if you notice the deep-V hull shape and full beam hardtop with integrated sunroof that offers superb protection from the elements, you are also reassured that you and your guests can make it safely to your destination, and have fun doing so! The Camira RS is designed to provide speed and security on the water, be it an outing in the North Sea or a restaurant cruise to Annapolis.
The Camira’s cockpit table is a blend of artistry and engineering. Fold it in for more intimate gatherings, or expand it to accommodate a larger party. Six built-in drink holders are a nice touch for your guests while underway. And with the touch of a button, the table gently lowers to provide more comfortable lounging space.
The aft sun-bed can be configured for front- or rear-facing sunbathing/seating with the push of a button, or arranged mid-centre to allow everyone to choose their favourite lounge space. Owners also have the option of a full wet bar with sink, fridge and storage to port, or a chaise lounge for even more seating in the cockpit. Hull colour, upholstery and other options are left up to Windy’s exacting owners.
HELM STATION
Windy Boats pays special attention to the helm station, with plush seating that offers a variety of driving choices—regular captain’s chair, bolster seating, and more. If you prefer to stand at the helm, just press the Footrest button on the 19″ Garmin multi-function display (MFD) touchscreen and a solid footrest slides out from under the captain’s seat to give you an unobstructed view over the top so that you can navigate standing up. But how to reach the throttle, joystick and bow thruster controls? Simply tap the screen’s Throttle arm up logo and the whole control panel rises to accommodate you… Voilà! A handy touchpad for trim tab control is a nice feature beside the tilting steering wheel. A Fusion stereo control dock and full surround stereo let you set the mood for your outing. Cupholders for pilot and co-pilot complete the setup.
FOREDECK
Four steps lead up to the foredeck, and the sturdy, quality stainless steel rails through the windscreen are a testament to the rock-solid build of the Camira RS. Sun pads adorn the foredeck, and just forward on the bow is the Lewmar electric windlass, with protected foot controls, a nice touch to prevent accidental operation of the windlass. The bowsprit is made of thick gauge stainless steel that can support any type of “photo op” your guests might want to attempt. A Thule rack is affixed to the rooftop, a handy feature to carry waterboards and other sports gear.
INTERIOR
Stepping down the soft-lit steps into the cabin, it’s time to prep refreshments in an attractive galley, with overhead cupboards throughout. The galley cupboards are magnetized to keep glasses/dishes stable during rough weather. Bosch stove, combination oven/microwave, ice-maker, wine cooler, everything you need for long outings is there.
The V-berth is the ideal spot to congregate if the weather turns nasty, with comfortable seating and another drop-down table that converts the space into a massive lounge area. Skylights and retractable blinds provide ample lighting. There is impressive storage to port and starboard, and the option to enclose the space with a bulkhead. A flatscreen TV and Dometic air conditioning are among the amenities found down below. A variety of options allows you to tailor the boat to your specific needs, including an aft 2-cabin configuration.
The spacious bathroom features a luxurious separate shower compartment, high-end finishings, and a translucent skylight that lets in natural light.
PERFORMANCE
Windy Boats has an open mind when it comes to powering their luxury cruisers. The more traditional inboard options include Twin Volvo Penta D6-400 DPI and 440 DPI power plants, or the Twin Yanmar 8LV370 ZT370. If you are attracted to the new trend in yachting, you can choose from a range of outboards, including the Twin Yamaha 450 XTO or Triple Yamaha F300. The engine compartment includes a generator, battery banks, Victron battery management system, blue smart chargers, and built-in firefighting system.
END RESULT
If they had a choice, there is no doubt that a large percentage of Camira owners would never leave their boat. After all, why leave something that looks so good and satisfies all your needs?
